Your Google Ads Report Is All Green. Your Phone Still Isn’t Ringing.

  • Conversions up and to the right, the budget spent in full, and almost no new calls to show for it. The report is not lying to you — it is faithfully counting things that were never leads.
  • Page views logged as conversions. One phone call counted by four separate actions. A form event still pointing at a plugin the site dropped. Every one of those makes the chart greener and the phone quieter.
  • Free account audit. We tell you how many of last month’s conversions were actually someone trying to reach you.

You get the findings whether or not you hire us. If your account is in good shape, we'll say so.

Why the Report Looks Good and the Phone Stays Quiet

A Google Ads dashboard does not report on your business. It reports on whatever you told it to count as a conversion. Get that definition wrong and the account will spend its entire budget getting better and better at producing the thing you mislabelled — while the chart climbs and the calendar stays empty.

Automated bidding makes this worse rather than better, because it optimizes hard toward the definition it was handed. A bad definition never stays a small problem. These are the faults we find most often, and every one of them is invisible from the dashboard:

  • Overlapping conversion actions — the same phone call counted by three or four separate actions, inflating every conversion number in the account
  • Page views counted as conversions — which teaches the bidder to buy traffic that lands and leaves
  • Every-conversion vs one-per-click set wrong, so one lead reports as several
  • Conversion events wired to a form plugin the site no longer uses — the event never fires, and the account looks like it converts far worse than it does
  • Phone calls not counted as conversions at all — on businesses where most enquiries arrive by phone, so the bidder never learns which clicks actually produce work

You do not need a call tracking number for any of this. As long as the ads and the conversion actions are set up correctly, calls from your ads are attributed without swapping the number your customers already know.

The Landing Page Is Half the Auction

Quality Score has three inputs, and one of them isn't in the ad account at all. Landing Page Experience is judged on relevance to the searcher's intent, transparency about the offer and the business, and ease of use on any device — and it feeds directly into what you pay per click.

This is where most agencies stop, because the landing page belongs to someone else. We build them, so we do not have to. A campaign pointed at a page that loads slowly, buries the offer, or answers a different question than the one that was searched is a campaign paying a tax on every click — and that page is also the exact place where paid clicks quietly stop becoming phone calls.

How We Run an Account

Audit and Repair the Measurement

Conversion actions consolidated and de-duplicated, call conversions wired up correctly, values assigned where they are known. Nothing else is trustworthy until this is done, so nothing else happens first.

Rebuild the Structure

Search campaigns organized around intent rather than around whatever the account grew into. Negative keywords from the actual search-terms report. Ad copy that matches the page the click lands on.

Optimize on Real Numbers

Bid strategy chosen for the volume you actually have, search terms reviewed on a schedule, and budget moved toward what converts — now measurable, because step one happened.

How We Build a Campaign

The structure changes with the kind of demand you are buying. Two examples.

Emergency demand — HVAC and home services

Captured emergency repair searches on Google — the highest-intent, highest-urgency queries in the category — and used seasonal maintenance offers to bring earlier-stage prospects back once the emergency had passed.

Considered purchases — cosmetic dentistry

Targeted search campaigns for high-ticket procedures, paired with retargeting that used patient testimonials to carry the longer consideration period these treatments involve.

Google Ads Questions We Get Asked First

What's a realistic cost per lead in my industry?

It varies enormously — legal and home services sit at the expensive end, and within any category the spread between a well-measured account and a poorly-measured one is wider than the spread between industries. The audit gives you a figure grounded in your own account rather than a benchmark that may not describe you.

Do you run Meta ads too?

Yes — see Meta ads and retargeting. They do different jobs: Google captures people already searching for you, Meta brings back the ones who didn't convert the first time. Plenty of accounts should start with Google alone.

Will you work with my existing website?

Usually. Where the landing page is the constraint, we'll say so and quantify it rather than quietly bidding around the problem — and we build pages if that turns out to be the cheapest fix.

Do I need to give you access to my account?

We work inside your account, which stays yours. You keep ownership, the history, and everything we build in it — including if you later leave. An agency that runs your spend from an account you don't own is holding your data hostage.

Do you swap my phone number for a call tracking number?

No. Your published number stays exactly as it is. When the conversion actions are configured correctly — which is the first thing we fix — calls from your ads are already attributed without swapping anything, so a tracking number solves a measurement problem you should not have in the first place. If you want recordings of the calls your ads produce, we can set that up separately and forward every call straight through to your permanent company number, so nothing your customers see changes. California is a two-party consent state, so recorded calls open with a short announcement; we configure that as part of the setup.
